May is Natinal Recommit Month. Use these tips to help get yourself fit again.

Do you remember last New Year’s Eve? Maybe you stayed up until midnight and watched the ball drop. If you’re like 62 percent of Americans, you made a few New Year’s Resolutions. Many of these resolutions have to do with health—the number one most common resolution is to lose weight.

But, only 8 percent of people who make New Year’s Resolutions actually achieve them in full. That’s why May is National Recommit Month. It’s the month to go back and look at where you’re at for your New Year’s Resolution. How are you doing? If you need to get back on track, now is the time to do it!

Here are a few tips from Jayhawk Pharmacy on how to get back into dieting:

  • One of the easiest ways people get off their diet is they cheat for a few days, and then think the whole thing is a wash. It isn’t. Remember, you need to consume 3,500 calories above what you burn before you gain a pound. The bagel at work or the cream in your coffee isn’t going to do it.
  • It can be boring to eat the same thing day in and day out, but it might be necessary to do this while you get your body used to going with fewer calories. Experiment with different foods to see what gives you the most energy and makes you the most full while adding the fewest calories. Hint: Vegetables and foods high in protein are ideal for this.
  • Have a designated cheat day, ideally on the weekend. This is when your routine is broke anyway, so it’s a good time to break away from the diet. You’ll be less tempted throughout the week if you do this.

Remember, you can do this! Jayhawk Pharmacy is here to help you with exercise and rehab equipment. If have any questions or concerns regarding your health and dieting, don’t hesitate to call us at 785-228-9700.
