There are a lot of ways you can add safety to your bathroom.

In the last post, we discussed some eye-catching statistics related to falls and the need for safety.  The bathroom is the easiest place to help improve and hopefully prevent some of these dangerous falls.  Through the use of many bathroom safety products that can help with mobility, stability, and convenience, many of these falls can be prevented.

There are a lot of products that can assist someone with their mobility such as the walkers.  These products are handy because they help to provide mobility assistance by stabilizing the individual while assisting with their mobility around the house.  Most walkers have wheels or glide accessories that can be attached to improve the functionality and ease-of-use.

Stability is one of the first things to start to deteriorate with aging adults.  The lack of balance and loss of muscle strength can lead to stability problems, especially when it comes to maneuvering in the bathroom.  Products as simple as a grab bar that can be mounted in the bath tub/shower can be all the assistance someone needs when getting in or out of the shower, or standing or sitting from the toilet.

If you want to take stability in the bathroom one more step, look into a specially designed bath tubs for your home.  These tubs are designed with doors into them that open and allow you to walk out rather than try and step over the edge of the tub and balancing on one leg at a time.

These are just a few examples of the types of products available to improve the safety of your bathroom/home.  For a full list of our products, visit our online catalog.  Or give us a call at 1-785-228-9700.  Let us know if you have any questions or if there is anything we, at Jayhawk Pharmacy, can do for you.
